Destination Highlight - Dominican Republic

When you're thinking about beach destinations, places like Mexico and Hawaii probably come to mind. While these locations are incredible, I want to talk about one of my favorite not-so-secret tropical travel destinations--the Dominican Republic!

This gorgeous Caribbean country is located on the island of Hispaniola and is a short flight from the United States. The DR also happens to have some of my very favorite resorts!

The Dominican Republic is an AMAZING destination for any traveler seeking a tropical escape. In addition to beautiful scenery and relaxing oceanfront, the Dominican Republic is home to the kindest people, incredible diving, fantastic food, and immersive cultural activities. Trust me when I say that the DR has something for everyone!

Spectacular Beaches

The Dominican Republic has over 1000 miles of coastline and some of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. The area of Punta Cana on the east side of the island is a prime destination if beautiful sand and beach relaxation is at the top of your list!

Even if your kids (or your husband) are more interested in water sports than relaxing with a good book, Punta Cana is the perfect place to satisfy everyone's vacation wishlist. Parasailing, surf lessons, paddle boarding, snorkeling...Punta Cana has it all! I've been lucky to visit quite a few of the resorts in the Punta Cana area and would love to tell you more about some of my favorites!

Diving Deep

For those looking for their thrills underneath the ocean's surface, the Bayahibe area of the Dominican Republic is an incredible diving destination. This scuba hotspot boasts dive centers, coral reefs, underwater wildlife, and the opportunity to explore over 20 shipwrecks!

With a plethora of marine life to see and warm water temperatures, this is a fabulous place to get your feet (and fins!) wet. There are scuba diving opportunities for every level, so don't be afraid to try something new on your amazing Dominican Republic vacation!

Sightseeing and Cultural Activities

The Dominican Republic is a vibrant destination full of incredible cultural opportunities. The capital city of Santo Domingo is an ideal destination for travelers looking to immerse themselves in the rich history of this island country. This includes exploring Parque Colón and the Catedral Primada de América, the very first cathedral to be built in the Americas.

If you're seeking a more nature-centered sightseeing opportunity, Los Tres Ojos (The Three Eyes) National Park contains jaw dropping, crystal clear lakes. The National Botanical Gardens and National Zoological Park are fun destinations for bird-watchers and families!

Fantastic Bites

If you're like me, trying new foods and sampling regional dishes may be one of your favorite parts of traveling the world. If so, the Dominican Republic is the place for you! Although the flavors of the DR are traditional, they are anything but boring! Caribbean food lovers will have a blast exploring the best bites in this beautiful island country.

For fellow chocolate lovers, there are numerous opportunities to learn about chocolate-making and taste test chocolate handmade by true chocolate-masters! Plus, if you're looking for upscale opportunities for fine dining, be sure to check out La Romana.

The Dominican Republic is one of my favorite destinations for families, friends, and couples looking for a relaxing getaway. This affordable paradise has something for everyone and deserves a top spot on your travel wishlist! Feel free to send me a message if you want to know more about this island getaway -- I can't wait to chat!!
